Mobility Scooter Rental in San José del Cabo

San José del Cabo is the gentler half of Los Cabos. Slower, older, greener, and far less crowded than its neighbour twenty miles down the highway.

It is also cobblestoned in the places you most want to visit, and that is worth knowing before you arrive.

Access Ability de México has been renting mobility equipment here since 2017. We are family owned. We own our scooters outright and we deliver them ourselves, so the person who hands you the machine is Andrew or Andres, not a stranger sent by an agency in another country.

Nothing is charged when you book. No deposit, no card held. You pay at delivery, once you have seen the scooter and tried it. And there is no minimum rental period, so a two day stay is a two day rental.

The scooter: Pride Mobility Victory 10 LX

This is a full size four wheel travel scooter, and in San José del Cabo one feature matters more than all the others.

  • CTS suspension. San José’s historic core is laid with cobblestone and rough brick. A cheap scooter turns that into a jackhammer ride. Suspension is why we rent this model and not something lighter.
  • Up to 8 MPH, with a speed dial so you can slow it right down on rough surfaces.
  • Up to 13 miles per charge. San José’s centre, hotel zone and marina are all within a few miles of one another, so range is rarely the limiting factor here.
  • 400 lb capacity and a wide, stable four wheel base.
  • Fits standard hotel elevators, including at the all inclusive resorts along the beach.
  • Lights front and rear, useful because the historic centre is genuinely lovely after dark and the street lighting is soft.

We also rent lightweight foldable manual wheelchairs, rollator walkers with a padded seat and hand brakes, and hands free knee walkers for foot or ankle recovery.

Delivery in San José del Cabo

The Zona Hotelera. The beachfront strip of all inclusive resorts south of town. Flat, modern, wide paths, good elevators. These properties are large, and crossing one on foot several times a day is what wears people out. A scooter changes that completely. We deliver straight to the lobby or the room, whichever your resort prefers.

The historic centre and Art District. Around Plaza Mijares and the Mission church. Beautiful, and cobbled. We deliver to boutique hotels and rentals here, and we will talk you through the surfaces honestly before you commit.

Puerto Los Cabos. The newer marina development north east of town. Smooth modern paving, level promenades, easy. One of the best surfaces in the whole municipality.

Costa Azul and the Zacatítos side. Spread out and quiet. We deliver, and we will flag if your rental sits at the top of a dirt access road, because that changes what we would recommend.

Vacation rentals and condos. Same free delivery, no difference in price.

Arriving at SJD airport? The airport is about twenty minutes from town. We do not meet at the terminal, because flights slip and we would rather you were not waiting in an arrivals hall. We put the scooter in your room instead, charged and ready, so it is there when you walk in. Late night arrival is fine. We deliver at any hour.

How pricing works

We quote directly rather than publish one rate, because two variables move the number.

The equipment. Scooter, manual wheelchair, rollator and knee walker each carry their own rate.

The length of the rental. Longer rentals cost less per day. A week is cheaper per day than three days. A month is cheaper again. Snowbirds and long stay guests should absolutely ask about monthly rates, because San José has a large winter long stay population and monthly is where the value is.

A Victory 10 LX in San José del Cabo starts at call or WhatsApp us and we will give you the figure the same day.

The terms do not change, whatever the number:

  • No deposit.
  • Nothing charged at the time of booking. We do not take card details to reserve.
  • You pay when we deliver, after you have inspected the scooter.
  • Visa, Mastercard, Amex, or cash in USD or MXN.
  • No minimum rental period.

Call or WhatsApp +52 322-107-2746. Tell us your hotel and your dates and we will give you the number straight away.

Why travellers choose us

We are local and we own our fleet. Search results for this area are dominated by a US based booking site that forwards orders to a local company it will not identify. You never learn who is actually coming. With us, the person on the phone is the person at your door.

You keep your money until the scooter is real. No prepayment means no chasing a refund from abroad if something falls through. This is the single biggest difference between us and almost everyone else in this market.

A perfect review record. 45 five star reviews, a 100% rating, and a TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award.

Since 2017, more than 400 guests.

No three day minimum. Short stays are welcome.

Objections, handled

“My hotel is an all inclusive. Will they allow a rented scooter?” Yes. Resorts here see mobility equipment constantly and staff are used to it. We deliver to resort lobbies routinely. Tell us the property and we will handle the arrival the way that property prefers.

“Can I actually use it in the old town, with the cobblestones?” Yes, with realistic expectations. The Victory 10 LX has suspension and pneumatic ride quality that makes cobblestone tolerable rather than punishing. Drop the speed dial to a low setting. Plaza Mijares itself and the streets immediately around it have been resurfaced in stretches and are easier than they look. Some side streets are rough. Take the smoother parallel street rather than the picturesque one and you will have a much better afternoon.

“Is San José hilly?” Not really. The town sits on flat ground near the estuary and the beach. The gradients here are gentle compared with Cabo San Lucas’s Pedregal. Battery range goes further in San José than almost anywhere else we serve.

“I only need it for four days of a ten day trip.” Then rent it for four days. We will deliver on day one of your need and collect on day four. No minimum, and no charge for the delivery trip.

“What if it rains?” September is the wettest month. The scooter handles damp pavement fine. Do not leave it out in a downpour overnight, and do not ride through standing water. Park it under cover and it will be fine.

Local knowledge for San José del Cabo

Thursday Art Walk. From roughly November through June, the galleries in the Art District open late on Thursday evenings and the streets fill up. It is the best night in town. It is also the most crowded, on the roughest surface in town. Go early in the evening before the crush, stay on the wider streets, and use your lights on the way home.

Plaza Mijares is the natural base. It is level, open and shaded, with cafés around the edge. Park there and radiate outward.

The Mission church. Step entry at the front. There is generally an easier way in at the side. Ask, and someone will show you.

The estuary path. The Estero San José, at the eastern end of the hotel zone, has a flat walking path and a lot of birdlife. It is a genuinely pleasant, easy scooter outing and almost nobody thinks to do it.

The beach. Much of San José’s beach has strong surf and steep sand. It is stunning to look at and not always safe to swim. Access points from the hotel zone are firm at the top and soft below. Stay on the firm section.

Getting to Cabo San Lucas. Twenty miles away. Do not ride it. Highway 1 is fast and the shoulder is not something you want to rely on. Take a shuttle or a large SUV taxi and leave the scooter at the hotel, or talk to us about your plans and we will work out the practical version.

Sunday market. The organic market in the winter season is on packed earth and gravel. Manageable, but slow, and better with a companion.

Frequently asked questions

Can a mobility scooter handle San José del Cabo’s cobblestone streets?

Yes, with the right machine and a slower speed setting. The Victory 10 LX has CTS suspension, which is why we use it here. Set the speed dial low in the historic centre. The Zona Hotelera and Puerto Los Cabos are smooth and easy by comparison.

Do you deliver to Los Cabos International Airport?

We deliver to your hotel rather than the terminal, so the scooter is charged and waiting in your room. Flight delays make airport handovers unreliable and we would rather you were not standing in arrivals. Late night deliveries are no problem.

Do you deliver to all inclusive resorts in the hotel zone?

Yes, and free of charge. We deliver to resort lobbies and rooms throughout the Zona Hotelera regularly, and we work with whatever arrival process your property prefers.

Is San José del Cabo easier to get around than Cabo San Lucas?

In some ways. It is flatter and much less crowded, and Puerto Los Cabos has excellent modern paving. The trade off is the cobblestone in the historic core. Cabo San Lucas has a better boardwalk but steeper hills and busier streets.

Do you offer monthly rentals for winter long stay visitors?

Yes. Monthly rates are the lowest per day we offer, and San José has a large winter long stay community. Mention your dates when you call and we will quote the monthly rate.

Ready when you are. No deposit, no upfront charge, no minimum rental. Andrew or Andres will bring it to your hotel and show you how everything works.
